Leeds United now have just two games remaining in the campaign to keep their Premier League status, but can they secure enough points to avoid the drop?
Sam Allardyce did not get the dream start he would've wanted last weekend, but a valiant display against the reigning champions, Manchester City, meant Leeds left the Etihad Stadium with only a slender defeat inflicted on their goal difference, which could be crucial come the end of the season.
Today, however, Leeds couldn't quite build upon that with a victory against Newcastle as Allardyce's side instead drew 2-2 at Elland Road.
Luke Ayling gave the home side an early lead only for Callum Wilson's brace, courtesy of two spot-kicks, forcing them to fight back – with Rasmus Kristensen scoring what could prove to be a crucial equaliser in their battle to avoid the drop.
Here are the Whites' two remaining fixtures – and how Football FanCast predicts they will fare in them below…
Leeds fixtures 21 May: West Ham (a) 28 May: Tottenham (h) West Ham v Leeds
Leeds may yet relish a trip to West Ham in a week's time. Not only have the Hammers been a shoddy run overall themselves, but David Moyes' side still have European commitments to fulfill, which could yet play into the Whites' hands.
West Ham's Europa Conference League semi-final second leg tie against AZ Alkmaar concludes on the preceding Thursday, and with just two Premier League clashes remaining, their season could be over by the time Leeds head down to the capital.
On the other hand, should they overcome the Dutch outfit in midweek, their eyes could be on June's Conference League final, which could leave players sweating over their fitness – particularly if their status as a Premier League club for next season has been confirmed.
Therefore, an Allardyce masterclass may well be in the offing. If Leeds can evoke the spirit of last year's late-season trip to London, they could just escape the London Stadium with three priceless points.
Prediction: West Ham 0-1 Leeds
Leeds v Tottenham
Who knows what shape both clubs will be in by the time this fixture rolls around? Leeds could either be safe or on the brink of relegation, while Spurs could yet salvage some form of European football for next season if Ryan Mason can build on last weekend's victory over Crystal Palace.
This result will have a bearing on the destinies of at least one of the teams involved at Elland Road on the final day, so it could be a game where the proverbial 12th man plays a part.
These two sides played out a thriller in their previous league meeting, so with much more potentially riding on this result, we could well have a chaotic afternoon on our hands – but will it be enough to keep Leeds up?
Prediction: Leeds 2-3 Tottenham
Predicted run-in points: 3/6 Predicted total points: 34 What do Leeds need?
Leeds will require at least a point against Tottenham on the final day Leicester must lose against Newcastle and West Ham Everton and Nottingham Forest must lose their final games against Bournemouth and Crystal Palace respectively.
