The Madrid fans sang chants aimed at Xavi and his struggling Barcelona side as they revelled in the glory of their fantastic performance. Madrid, led by Jude Bellingham, soared to victory and extended their lead at the top of La Liga to five points. Madrid also moved 11 points ahead of Xavi's side.

Goading the Barcelona boss, the Madrid fans chanted: "Xavi quédate". Which roughly translates to a chant similar to one used in England to mock failing managers, 'We want you to stay'. Madrid fans are in no rush to see the struggling boss depart.

Madrid's impressive, statement victory over Girona marked their ambitions to storm to the league title and wrestle it back from Barcelona. Xavi's side were crowned champions last season, but have been far from their best this term. In their current form, you'd be foolish to not consider Madrid, alongside Manchester City, as favourites for the Champions League too.
