Everton fans have taken to Twitter to react excitedly after Carlo Ancelotti gave his first interview as manager.
The Italian – who has previously held the reins at Chelsea, AC Milan and Real Madrid – was recently appointed as Marco Silva’s successor and will take over from Duncan Ferguson, who has yielded five points from games against Chelsea, Manchester United and Arsenal in his three matches in charge.
Ancelotti has signed a four-and-a-half year contract with the Toffees after leaving Napoli, and stated in his first interview that Champions League or Europa League football is the goal.
The 60-year-old has won the Champions League three times as a coach, and he certainly sounds ambitious as he prepares to pick up an Everton side who are languishing in the bottom half of the Premier League.
The Merseysiders are just four points off the relegation zone having won five of their 18 games in England’s top-flight this season, and Ancelotti faces a tough task to pick his new players up and lift their spirits.
